Biography

Currently, I’m working as the Education Outreach Coordinator for the Northeast US Shelf LTER project at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and as a consultant for Science On a Sphere® at the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, MA. I have recently completed an interim role as Communications Specialist for the Ocean Twilight Zone Audacious Project at WHOI. I have served as a facilitator and curriculum developer for the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI) and was a Professional Development Consultant to UMass Dartmouth’s 6-year NSF TEACH! Southcoast teacher leader development program. Previously, I worked as the Education Director at the Ocean Explorium at New Bedford Seaport (now closed) and was the Center Director and Professional Development Director at the Challenger Learning Center of Maine. I have an M.S. in Oceanography, six years of classroom teaching experience, and 15 years in science outreach, professional development and instructional design. I have organized and orchestrated multiple summer institutes for teachers on global climate science, have lead workshop series on best practices for middle and high school science teachers and served as the project director for a Department of Education funded Math and Science Partnership project on “Connecting Climate to Curriculum”. And finally, I have worked as an Instructional Designer for the national Challenger Center network, contributing toward developing an earth-science mission for high school students, Earth Systems Science curriculum materials, and an online climate change model interactive, CCEarth4U.
